I think it would only make perfect sense to make my next blog post a Matcha recipe! If you follow me on instagram then you know my obsession with matcha. If you don’t well then you should because I post on the daily about matcha.
So let’s get into why I’m obsessed with matcha. I’ve been dealing with all sorts of things like adrenal fatigue, general anxiety disorder, and so on. For that reason I was never a coffee drinker. Shocking! But me and coffee didn’t mix. It would give me intense anxiety so I stayed away for years. It was easy for me since I knew the anxious feeling I would get post coffee.
Well then motherhood happened and I went from being a great sleeper to waking up every couple hours to breastfeed. Oh the joys of the newborn phase, but now I miss my newborn. My active toddler wouldn’t cuddle me if I payed him with food. Anyway, I went a whole four months without caffeine because I didn’t want to mix breastfeeding and caffeine. But at the fourth month mark I couldn’t take it anymore. I was exhausted beyond belief. I did the unthinkable and tried bulletproof coffee. And it hit me hard. I felt like SUPER MOM with one cup! I had so much energy that I cleaned the whole house and even organized Noah’s dresser for the first time. Yup, I was hooked after that. I survived the next few months with the help of coffee.
When Noah was six months old he started sleeping 11 straight hours at night. Thank the Lord! But I continued to wake up several times a night and could not go back to sleep. I went to my holistic doctor and was told to cut out coffee ASAP. At first I laughed then realized she was serious. The first two days of cutting out coffee I had the worst headaches and was so damn tired. But my sleeping improved drastically. I didn’t want to go back to coffee so I looked into other caffeine sources and that’s when I discovered MATCHA! After a couple recipes I found my new addiction.
Not only did matcha not give me a crash or mess with my sleep it actually gave me a legit energy boost. I could have a matcha latte at 2pm and not worry if I would have trouble sleeping that night. I’m a huge fan of the L-theanine that you find in this green tea. L-theanine is a relaxing and nondietary amino acid. And with my hectic life I’ll take anything thats calming. Matcha has so many more benefits but I will go over them on another post.
